Many organisations run their own IT, with their own IT staff or a regular IT partner. That works, until it comes to updates. Updates are needed every month, on every device, at a moment when nobody is bothered by them. And the very security holes that an update closes are what attackers look for first.
With update management, you outsource just that one part. Your IT stays yours.
What does B/Focused do?
- Our management software on your devices. We install our RMM agent on your workstations and servers. This shows us, per device, which updates are waiting and whether they succeeded.
- Updates according to our update policy. We install Windows and Microsoft updates seven days after they are released, so a faulty update has usually already been noticed elsewhere.
- Within your maintenance window. In our customer portal you set the days and times when installation is allowed, and whether devices may restart.
- We pick up failed updates. If an update fails, we find out why and fix it.
- A regular report. In our Technology Alignment report you see how many devices are fully up to date, what is waiting for a restart and what we are still working on.
What stays with you?
Everything that has nothing to do with updates: questions from users, changes, new employees, your network and your software. Your own IT staff or IT partner remains the point of contact for those. If an update causes problems, we coordinate with them.
What does update management cost?
| Item | Per month |
|---|---|
| Workstation (desktop or laptop) | € 6 |
| Server | € 15 |
Prices per device, excluding VAT.
And after that?
Update management is a good first step to get to know how we work. If you later also want to use our management platforms, dashboards and specialists, Co-Managed IT is the next step.
Frequently asked questions
Do we have to switch from our current IT partner?
No. Update management is meant for organisations that run their own IT, with their own IT staff or a regular partner. We only do the updates; everything else stays as it is.
What happens if an update causes problems?
We install updates seven days after they are released. A faulty update has usually been noticed elsewhere by then. If an update does cause problems for you, we immediately involve your own IT staff or partner.
When are updates installed and devices restarted?
Within the maintenance window you set yourself in our customer portal: you choose the days, the times and whether a device may restart.
Which updates are covered?
Windows and Microsoft updates on workstations and servers, in line with our update policy.
Can we have you do more later on?
Yes. Update management is a good first step. If you later also want to use our management platforms, dashboards and specialists, Co-Managed IT is the next step. Update management is already included there, so you no longer pay for it separately.
