Domain names, DNS configurations and SSL certificates form an important part of the digital identity of every organisation. They determine how websites, email environments, cloud solutions and other online services remain reachable, secure and trustworthy.

Although these components are often invisible to users, errors or outdated configurations can have direct consequences for websites, Microsoft 365, email delivery, security and business continuity. That is why many organisations choose to organise domain management, DNS configurations and certificate management centrally and have them periodically assessed.

B/Focused supports organisations in registering, managing, securing and migrating domains, DNS configurations, SSL certificates and email authentication so that digital services continue to function reliably, securely and in a future-proof way.

Why do organisations choose professional domain and DNS management?

Protection of your digital identity

Domain names form the basis of websites, email addresses and digital services. Good management prevents loss of control, unauthorised changes or dependency on individual suppliers.

Secure connections

SSL certificates ensure that websites, portals and online services communicate in an encrypted way, which better protects data against interception and misuse.

Better email security

With SPF, DKIM and DMARC, organisations can increase the reliability of email and better prevent misuse such as spoofing and phishing.

Continuity of digital services

Domains, DNS records and certificates have a direct impact on websites, cloud solutions, Microsoft 365 and other business-critical services. Good management helps prevent disruptions.

Support for Compliance & Governance

More and more organisations are paying attention to digital identity, demonstrable security measures and management processes as part of cyber resilience, audits and compliance trajectories.

Central management and supplier control

Managing domains, DNS configurations and certificates centrally creates more insight, better documentation and less dependency on individual employees or suppliers.

One central management point for digital identity

For various organisations, we manage domain registrations, DNS configurations, SSL certificates and email authentication through one central management structure. This creates more insight into digital dependencies, less risk of expired certificates and better control of business-critical services.

During a Microsoft 365 migration project, an organisation turned out to have multiple domains spread across different suppliers. By managing domain registrations, DNS configurations, SSL certificates and email authentication centrally, more overview, better security and less dependency on individual suppliers was achieved.

In addition, the foundation for better cyber resilience was laid by standardising and recording SPF, DKIM and DMARC configurations within the management environment.

Alongside managing domain registrations, DNS configurations and email authentication, we also monitor SSL certificates and related dependencies for various organisations. This ensures certificates are renewed in time, and potential disruptions to websites, portals and business-critical applications can often be prevented before users experience any inconvenience.

Arrange it directly in the customer portal

Are you a B/Focused customer? Then you can check in the customer portal whether a domain name is still available and request it directly, or move an existing domain name to us. There you can also see which domain names are managed for your organisation.

Frequently asked questions

Can domain and DNS management be part of Technology Alignment?

Yes. Within Technology Alignment, we periodically assess whether domains, DNS configurations, certificates and email authentication still match the organisation’s needs and whether risks are sufficiently covered.

Do you also support existing environments?

Yes. Not every organisation starts with a new setup. We also support existing domain registrations, DNS configurations, SSL certificates and email authentication solutions, and can assess, optimise or migrate them.

Can you centralise multiple domains and suppliers?

Yes. Many organisations have domains, DNS configurations, hosting services and certificates spread across different suppliers. Managing these centrally creates more insight, better documentation and less dependency on individual parties.

Can you assess existing domain and DNS environments?

Yes. Within projects and Technology Alignment assessments, we map domain registrations, DNS configurations, certificates and email authentication to clarify risks, dependencies and areas for improvement.

Do you also monitor SSL certificates?

Yes. For various organisations we monitor SSL certificates and related dependencies so that expiring certificates are signalled in time and can be renewed before disruptions occur.

Do you also support domain and DNS changes for Microsoft 365?

Yes. We support organisations with migrations, DNS changes, email authentication, domain links and other changes needed for Microsoft 365 environments.

What are SPF, DKIM and DMARC?

SPF, DKIM and DMARC are additional security measures for email traffic. These techniques help organisations better prevent spoofing, phishing and misuse of domain names.

What happens when an SSL certificate expires?

An expired certificate can lead to security warnings, disruptions to websites, unreachable portals or problems with applications that depend on secure connections.

Why are SSL certificates important?

SSL certificates ensure encrypted communication between users and online services. This better protects data and allows websites to demonstrate that connections are secure.

What exactly does DNS do?

DNS translates domain names into the right systems and services. This allows websites, cloud solutions, Microsoft 365 and email environments to function correctly.

Why is domain management important for organisations?

Domain names form the basis of websites, email traffic, Microsoft 365 and other online services. Good management helps organisations retain control over their digital identity and reachability.

What happens when a domain name expires?

An expired domain name can cause websites, email traffic and other linked services to become unreachable. There is also a risk that the domain name is registered by a third party.

Who owns a domain name?

You can check this with the registrar for a particular domain extension. Each domain name has its own authority that manages this and where you can request this information:

My domain name is in quarantine, what can I do?

This cannot happen with domain names under our management, so the first advice would be: place your domain names with a professional company rather than a budget online provider.

If a domain name is in quarantine, this is usually because the invoice has not been paid. Sometimes people register their domain name with a private email address that they no longer read once they have set up their own domain name. So make sure the administrative contact details of your domain registration are in order, something we as a company also take very seriously.

You can still have the domain name released from quarantine, but the existing technical administrator will charge extra costs for this. We can also help you with this and ensure this cannot happen again in the future. Please contact our servicedesk and we will help you with this process.

My domain name is already taken, what can I do?

It may be that the domain name you want is already taken. If there is an existing website behind it, the chance of taking over the domain name is small. There is also an active trade in domain names going on, and some people even make this their job.

When the domain name is owned by a trader, you can make an offer to buy the domain name. The price of a domain name can range from a few hundred euros to huge amounts of more than € 100.000.

What is the difference between domain registration and hosting?

With domain registration, only a name is registered, and no files, website or application are stored anywhere on an external server. When you start hosting, something is placed on a server, whereas with domain registration an easy name can simply point to a hosting solution.

What is hosting?

Hosting means we place a server or application on infrastructure in a data centre (in other words, the cloud). This can be a website, your own server or an application.

What is a domain registration?

Domain registrations are the names you can register online for your business, such as yourbusinessname.nl or yourproduct.nl. Many businesses nowadays have multiple domain registrations that can point to the same websites. We ourselves have registered b-focused.eu, b-focused.nl and b-focused.be. Because we are active in the Netherlands and Belgium, we chose to make the .eu domain name primary and link the .nl and .be domain names through to the website www.b-focused.eu.

What is an SSL certificate?

SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer and is a security protocol that provides an encrypted connection between a web server and an internet browser. This ensures that all data sent between the web server and browser remains secret from intermediate parties and cannot be stolen.

It is important that you have such a certificate on your website, usually arranged by the website developer. However, you may have your own infrastructure that also requires such a certificate. We can arrange that for you.

It is also essential to have an SSL certificate on your website, because otherwise you will not be included in major search engines such as Google or Bing. You can recognise a valid SSL certificate by a lock icon in the address bar of your web browser.
